Fatty Liver Disease
Hepatic Steatosis
📋Overview
Fatty Liver Disease is a broad term describing excess fat accumulation in liver cells. The modern preferred terms are Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (AFLD), reflecting the primary causes. NAFLD is linked to metabolic factors without significant alcohol use, while AFLD results from chronic heavy alcohol consumption. Both can range from simple steatosis to more severe inflammation and scarring.
