Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly aggressive and the most common primary malignant brain tumor in adults. It is classified as a grade IV astrocytoma by the World Health Organization. GBM is characterized by rapid growth, infiltration into surrounding brain tissue, and poor prognosis. The term 'glioblastoma multiforme' is a legacy name; the modern preferred term is simply 'glioblastoma.'
