📋Overview
Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is a legacy term historically used to describe a form of abusive head trauma (AHT) in infants and young children caused by violent shaking. The modern preferred term is Abusive Head Trauma, which encompasses injuries from shaking, impact, or both. This condition results in brain injury, often accompanied by retinal hemorrhages and fractures, due to acceleration-deceleration forces applied to a vulnerable child's head.
