📋Overview
Spielmeyer-Vogt disease is a legacy term historically used to describe what is now classified under neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs), a group of inherited neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the accumulation of lipopigments in neurons and other cells. The modern preferred term is CLN1 disease or infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, one of several types of NCLs distinguished by genetic cause and age of onset.
