Thromboangiitis obliterans, also known as Buerger disease, is a rare inflammatory vascular condition that primarily affects small and medium-sized arteries and veins of the extremities. It is characterized by segmental inflammation and thrombosis leading to vessel occlusion and tissue ischemia. The modern preferred term is Buerger disease.
