Overview

Shingrix protects against shingles (herpes zoster), a painful condition caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

What It Protects Against

  • Shingles rash
  • Postherpetic neuralgia (long-term nerve pain)

Who It's For

  • Adults aged 50 and older
  • Adults 19+ with weakened immune systems

Routine Schedule

  • Two-dose series, given several months apart

Safety & Notes

  • Recombinant (non-live) vaccine
  • Temporary fatigue, muscle pain, or fever may occur
  • More effective than older shingles vaccines
