📋Overview
Indian cassia generally refers to cassia cinnamon (commonly Cinnamomum cassia or related cassia species) used as a spice and in supplements. Cassia cinnamon can contain higher levels of coumarin than “true” (Ceylon) cinnamon. Excess coumarin exposure is associated with liver-toxicity risk, and EFSA has set a tolerable daily intake (TDI) for coumarin.
